A new sports complex that is meant to be a hub for the community of North Minneapolis is moving forward.
V3 Sports Center will be located on a 2.6-acre site at the corner of Lyndale Avenue N and Plymouth Avenue N. The center will be constructed in two phases and will eventually cover over 160,000 square feet of space and include a community center, event space, and two pools, one of which will be Olympic-sized.
The V3 Sports Center will be a place that everyone on the Northside can be proud of. It has been designed to be a beacon of hope as well as a focal point bridging the Northside and Downtown. More importantly, the building will serve as a hub for the community to gather and grow together.
An existing, single-story commercial building on site will be demolished to make way for the new center. As a part of the first phase, a two-story building will be constructed that will include a community center with offices, classrooms, event space, a five-lane indoor teaching pool, therapy pool, locker rooms, a fitness center, a cafΓ©, and a childcare center. The first phase will also include a public plaza with bicycle parking and a temporary surface parking lot with space for 45 vehicles. A second phase will eventually expand the center will by 125,000 square feet and create space for an Olympic-sized pool as well as multi-purpose courts/event space.
Designed by LSE Architects, the interior of the building will feature a modern and open design while the exterior of the building will feature a bold design that is meant to make a statement that will be clad in metal panel, precast, and glass shell.
V3 Sports Center will be located at 701 & 725 Plymouth Avenue N in the Near North neighborhood.
