UPDATE: Rise at Prospect Park

More housing is coming to Minneapolis' Prospect Park neighborhood, a whole lot of new housing that is.

Plans were floated months ago (discussions began years ago) for a new mixed-use development near the Green Line's Prospect Park station. The exact address lies on the corner of University Avenue SE and 29th Avenue SE at 2929 University Avenue SE.

Currently on site is a building that houses a commercial tenants with the most notable tenants being Anytime Fitness and Overflow Coffee (which recently closed). Plans for the new project called "Rise at Prospect Park" are notably different than whats currently on site.

15 stories of commercial and residential space along with plenty of parking and most exciting of all, a Fresh Thyme grocery store, are what the future holds for the site. Original plans for the development announced last Spring also included a hotel for the site which recently was scrapped. The 120 room hotel gave way to about 100 more residential units bringing the total count for the project up to 336.

Constructed is expected to begin in Spring 2016 with a completion planned for Fall 2017.
