The North Loop’s first Latin-Caribbean restaurant will open along Washington Avenue early next year.
Guacaya Bistreaux will be located on the ground floor of Dock Street Flats in a space that was previously home to Dunn Brother’s Coffee and Lolë Boutique.
The new 2,800 square foot restaurant will be able to seat 90 people indoors and another 60 individuals outside on a large patio space fronting Washington Avenue.
Guacaya Bistreaux will be co-owned by Pedro Wolcott and Giancarlo Quintero. The two originally met in Panama when growing up and recently reconnected to create a new hospitality group called “Group Balboa.”
The menu at Guacaya Bistreaux will be inspired by a mix of New Orleans Creole and Cajun cuisine and will include several different types of tapas, shareable entrees, and a number of international beers and craft cocktails.
Pedro has lived and traveled in the Caribbean and Central and South America, he also spent a period working at restaurants in both New Orleans and Las Vegas. Pedro will use his past experiences from around the world along with his family recipes to create a unique and different menu for Guacaya Bisteaux that will truly have something for everyone.
Guacaya Bistreaux is anticipated to open in March at 337 N Washington Avenue.
