DEVELOPERS PROPOSE NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN NORTHEAST

A new proposal in Northeast Minneapolis is one of the first cases of the vision of Minneapolisโ€™ 2040 Plan coming to life.

Developers Paster Properties and Bader Development is planning a new residential building at 950 13th Avenue NE on a site that is currently home to a surface parking lot and a commercial building. If youโ€™re not familiar with the site, itโ€™s actually located right behind โ€œThe Broadwayโ€, a commercial building that is home to Spyhouse Coffee, 612 Brewery, CorePower Yoga and other tenants.

The new building would stand five-stories tall and would include 118 apartments and 127 parking stalls located on two indoor, above grade levels.

Now, how is this project part of the 2040 vision? Weโ€™ll fill you in.

One of the new requirements as part of the 2040 plan for new developments within this area is that they include production/makers space. โ€œEide Sawโ€ as the building is tentatively being called would include 8,222 square feet of space devoted to those uses. 4,149 square feet would be devoted to production space, 1,385 square feet would be devoted to production maker space / office space, 950 square feet would be devoted to creative studio production artist space and 1,814 square feet would be devoted to artist production space within artist studio residences.

When it comes to the 118 residential units within the building they would range in size and include alcove, studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

Amenities within the building would include a fitness center and roof deck on the second floor along with a commons area and another roof deck that would be located on the fifth floor.

Collage Architects is responsible for the design of 950 13th Avenue NE. The building would be clad in metal paneling and siding, masonry and metal mesh and would include artistic facades on both the North and South sides of the building.

Plans for 950 13th Avenue NE were presented to the Minneapolis Planning Commission Committee of the Whole at their January 30th meeting. The project is anticipated to go before the Minneapolis Planning Commission for approval later this spring.
