Apartments planned for Girard Avenue South

A new apartment complex is in the works for the Lowery Hill East Neighborhood. If all goes according to plan ground could be broke by this spring and the building ready for occupancy by May 2016.

DJR Architects is proposing a 40 unit, 4 story apartment complex called Girard Avenue Apartments at the 2800 block of Girard Avenue South. The half acre site lies between 28th street and the Midtown Greenway and would require the consolidation of four residential lots and the demolition of three homes.

Various floor plans will be available throughout the building including two story two and three bedroom town home units on the first floor, along with studio, one bedroom and two bedroom units throughout the rest of the building.

Units on the fourth level of the building will also have a unique amenity as each will have exterior spiral staircases that lead to private roof top level terraces. There also will be a large roof terrace available for the entire building that is accessible by elevator. The project will be unique in the fact that residential amenities will not include a lavish lobby or workout room as many area projects have in recent years.

The ground floor of the Girard Avenue Apartments is planned to include walk up units each with a person porch and individual landscaped front yards. The building facade will include large areas of glass along with metal awnings. Each floor is intended to stand out in its own unique design character. Building materials will include masonry, stucco, metal and cement panels, along with metal balconies and awnings.

Parking can be tight in Uptown as is so the development will also include 55 enclosed parking stalls in an at grade garage along with an underground parking garage. Bike rakes will also be included with each parking space along with a general bike storage area for the entire building.

A PROJECT PAGE for this project is coming soon.
