ALLBIRDS OPENING MINNEAPOLIS LOCATION

ALLBIRDS OPENING MINNEAPOLIS LOCATION image

Allbirds. Get ready, because they’re coming to the North Loop neighborhood.

If you’re not familiar with the company, don’t worry because we’ve got some details for you.

Allbirds produces what are “the world’s most comfortable shoes, flats, and clothing made with natural materials like merino wool and eucalyptus” according to their website. The company at the moment is kind of a big deal in mainstream media and in many ways it’s an even bigger deal that Minneapolis is getting an Allbirds location to start.

Now, to begin with, if you’re wondering where the name comes from, we’ve got an answer for you. The name “Allbirds” comes from the fact the company was founded in New Zealand where there are basically no native land animals and therefore the land is a place of “all birds.”

The company officially launched in 2016 and since then has expanded to not only offer their products online but also in retail stores in New Zealand (where it began), China, France, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands. This year, Allbirds was valued at over $1 billion and currently has 23 dedicated Allbirds locations spread across the world with the closest to Minnesota being located in Chicago.

So, where in the world are they setting up shop in the North Loop?

Allbirds will open in the former Russell + Hazel space located at 219 N 2nd Street. The new location is currently under construction with permits showing that Allbirds is anticipated to be complete in the spring.

It’s an exciting addition for the North Loop as the neighborhood lands another major unique national retailer. In the last few years, the neighborhood has gained coveted national retailers and restaurants such as Bonobos, Circa Lighting, Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea, Lululemon, Madewell Denim Edit, The Ten Spot, Warby Parker, West Elm, and now Allbirds. And from what we’ve heard, that’s just the start…

Allbirds is currently under construction at 219 N 2nd Street and is anticipated to be complete in spring 2021.

If you're interested in working at Allbirds, the new location is currently hiring a Store Leader and Assistant Store Leader. Applications can be submitted here.
