West Elm’s first Minneapolis location officially has an opening date.

Thursday, February 27th is when the doors will swing open to West Elm’s newest location in the North Loop. The new, 11,000 square foot store will be located at 128 N 2nd Street on the ground floor of Second & Second, a new mixed-use project that will include retail space and market-rate apartments.

West Elm was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 2002. The company specializes in original, modern and affordable home décor with a mid-century flair. Today there are over 100 West Elm locations spread across the United States. West Elm currently has one Minnesota location at The Shops at Centennial Lakes in Edina that opened in 2008.

A public grand opening celebration will be held on Thursday, March 5th, from 6-8pm. Local bites and specialty cocktails will be served, you’ll also be able to take a sneak peek of West Elm’s exclusive spring line. Shoppers will also receive 15% of their purchases with a portion of the proceeds from the evening going to Urban Homeworks, a local nonprofit with a mission of transforming vacant or distressed properties into a healthy neighborhood.

The North Loop location will also carry an assortment of products made by independent artists including goods from Solid Manufacturing and Kate Arends of Wit + Delight.
