RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PLANNED FOR THRIVING NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD image

Northeastโ€™s charm and thriving neighborhoods continues to draw the interest of developers, especially around the area where Broadway Street NE meets Main Street NE.

This time around, Minneapolis-based developer CDT Realty Corporation is planning to redevelop a site located at 1000 Main Street NE in the St. Anthony West neighborhood. A multi-family home would be demolished in order to make way for a new five-story residential building which would tentatively be called โ€œFlair On Main.โ€ The new building would include 49 residential units and 13 indoor parking spaces.

Units within the building would range in size and include studio, alcove and one-bedroom layouts. A single, one-bedroom unit would be located on the ground floor of the building while each of the four upper floors would include five studio, two alcove and five one-bedroom units.

Amenities within the building would include a ground floor lobby, mail area, package room, lounge, fitness center, bike lounge and dog wash. Access to the ground floor indoor parking area would be provided via an alleyway located behind the building which currently runs between 10th Avenue NE and 11th Avenue NE.

Designed by DJR Architecture, the new building would feature a design that is a node to the historic residential buildings constructed throughout the city in the early 1900โ€™s. The new building would be clad in brick, glazing, fiber cement lap siding and corrugated metal siding. The buildingโ€™s design would also feature curved entry awnings, private balconies for many of the residential units, and an ornamental cornice.

As mentioned above, the project site is in a thriving area in Northeast where in the last five years several residential buildings have been constructed. Most recently, Solhem Companies completed both their Lucille and Frances residential projects on the same block and in 2019 completed another residential project called, The Julia, just a block towards the river.

Plans for 1000 Main Street NE are anticipated to go before the Minneapolis Planning Commission for feedback and approvals later this fall.
