Preliminary renderings revealed for The Commons

Renderings were recently released for The Commons, the new park that will be located next to the Vikings Stadium and will run between 4th and 5th Street.

The designs were created by a landscape architecture firm based out of San-Francisco named Hargreaves Associates. Four prototype designs were created in which a rendering and site plan were released for each

The designs for the 4.2 acre park each feature a water feature of some sort, different soil elevations on site, and a support pavilion along with play area in some. Portland Avenue will be narrowed with each of the designs and will include just two car lanes and bike lanes.

Construction of the park is expected to begin within the next few months as the Star Tribune building demolition begins.
