NEW COFFEE SHOP TO OPEN IN NORTH LOOP

A coffee shop that has been roasting in St. Paul since 2014 is setting up shop in the North Loop.

Backstory Coffee Roasters will open in September on the ground floor of The Duffey, a recently completed mixed-use project that transformed a historic warehouse along Washington Avenue N into apartments and retail space. The coffee shop will occupy space within the building’s main lobby and will be open to the public.

While the name “Backstory” may not be super familiar at the moment, it is actually the rebranding of what was formerly known as “Bootstrap Coffee Roasters.” Since its beginning nearly ten years ago, the small coffee roaster has grown and matured into something much greater than what was originally planned, hence the need for an updated identity.

Backstory Coffee Roasters will be all about collaboration and storytelling. The hope is that by creating a foundation upon those two things that deep connections to not only coffee itself, but those who grow it, can be made.

Expect the menu at Backstory’s Minneapolis location to be similar to its St. Paul location. It’ll feature classic espresso beverages, cold brew, pour-overs, specialty beverages and more. In addition, you’ll find delicious food items such as grab-and-go items, hot sandwiches, and pastries.

Backstory Coffee Roasters will be located within The Duffey at 528 N Washington Avenue.
