What could become Downtown Minneapolis' largest condominium development... ever... is returning to present plans to the Minneapolis Planning Commission COW at this Thursday's upcoming meeting.

Jim Stanton is behind the project called "The Legacy." Planned next to his successful StoneBridge Lofts condominium development, which opened in 2014 with 164 condo units (all of which are sold today), The Legacy will be over twice the size.

Originally presented to the planning commission as a 14 story building covering 724,000 square feet of space with 374 condo units, Stanton has reimagined his newest project due to concerns by the commission on the overall massing of the building. That challenge by the commission has been as a good thing as the most recent design shows not only a taller building, but one that fits the area better.

New plans show a 14 story tower connected to a 17 story tower by an 8 story building. While all three buildings are actually one, the lower portion really helps to break up such a large and massive project. The 14 story portion would be closet to the Mississippi River while the taller portion would be towards the back of the site.

The Legacy is still filled with amenities galore. First floor amenities include a 2,730 square foot outdoor children's play area along with outdoor green space that features a dog run and rain garden. But those are just the start.

On the second floor there will be a large green roof including space for lawn bowling. On a separate roof deck on the second floor there will also be an outdoor pool and spa. On the same floor indoors will be a game room, community room, and exercise room. Seems like there will be no need to leave this place, well, except for some Izzy's Ice Cream next door of course!

The developer hopes to still begin construction on the project this summer with demo of the current warehouse on site beginning most likely in late April if all is approved by the city.
