17 story building planned near U.S. Bank Stadium

Plans for U.S. Bank Stadium's next neighbor have finally been released.

Ryan Companies announced, or should we say re-announced, their plans for a 17 story, 250,000 square foot office building late last week. Located at the intersection of 4th Street S and Park Avenue, the would be construction on a vacant parcel of land in in front of a parking ramp that was completed last year.

It's not necessarily new news that a project is planned for this site. Ryan Companies won the approval to purchase the site from the city of Minneapolis last year after the city solicited a call for development proposals. At the time Ryan Companies was proposing a larger project that would have included residential units, a hotel, and commercial space.

Renderings for the newly announced project have not been made public but are expected to be released later this month. Council member Jacob Frey has seen the design and describes it as very modern with large uses of glass, likely something similar to the design that was originally proposed.

If approved by the Planning Commission, construction could begin this Fall with a projected completion in late 2017.
