It's official.... Express opening Miller Hill Mall location

It's official fellow Duluthians! Express is planning on opening a new location in the Miller Hill Mall before the 2013 holiday season begins and confirmed the news today with their first posting for a new manager position at the Duluth location. That's right... the clothing retailer that is partially owned by Limited Brands (also owners of Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, etc) and has over 600 locations across the country will once again call Duluth home. If we remember correctly, the Miller Hill Mall use to actually have an Express location where Eddie Bauer currently is.

Unfamiliar with Express? Do not fear! We'll fill you in... well actually this excerpt from Express will fill you in on their company.

Express is a specialty apparel and accessories retailer of women's and men's merchandise, targeting the 20 to 30 year old customer. The Company has over 30 years of experience offering a distinct combination of fashion and quality for multiple lifestyle occasions at an attractive value addressing fashion needs across work, casual, jeanswear, and going-out occasions. The Company currently operates more than 600 retail stores, located primarily in high-traffic shopping malls, lifestyle centers, and street locations across the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and also distributes its products through the company's e-commerce website, www.express.com

Express stores feature a very modern red and white iconic facade (there's a picture at the bottom) and are placed in high profile malls and surburbs. So if your mall happens to get an Express, that means things are going pretty well.

Really the big deal about Duluth getting an Express store is that Express falls in the same category as upper priced clothing retailers such as J. Crew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, etc. With that being said, this could be great news for the Miller Hill Mall as Express could be the first of many new store additions in the coming few years as it tends to attract its competitors.

The exact location of the store within the mall is not known yet. The mall must have plans to consolidate some spaces together in order to create a large enough space to house Express. That is unless the mall has some other plans up its sleeves regarding additional retail space or a departure of a store. Express stores tend to have an average square footage around 8,700 sqf depending on what concepts they carry (Men's or Women's or both). Currently no space in the mall is nearly large enough for the retailer.

Way to go Miller Hill Mall on landing this awesome retailer!
