FAIRFIELD INN AND SUITES PROPOSED FOR MAPLE GROVE ROAD

A familiar hotel chain may be coming back to the Duluth Heights area.

A new Fairfield Inn and Suites has been proposed for a site on the corner of Maple Grove Road and Cottonwood Avenue. Located at 1506 Maple Grove Road the four story building would house 82 guest suites, an indoor pool, lounge areas, meeting space and more. 82 parking spaces would be provided on a surface lot surrounding the building.

This would be the second Fairfield Inn and Suites location in Duluth with the other being located on Park Point. However, Fairfield Inn and Suites isn’t a stranger to the Duluth Heights area. They actually had a location behind Walgreen’s off of Joshua Avenue up until a few years ago when the hotel was sold and rebranded as an AmericInn.

Brutger Equity INC is the developer behind the newly proposed Fairfield Inn and Suites. The company also owns the adjacent Days Inn which they are plan to renovate and rebrand as a Days Inn and Suites this spring.

Plans for the project will go before the Duluth Planning Commission at their meeting this Tuesday.

Construction on Fairfield Inn and Suites could begin as soon as June with an anticipated opening in May 2020.
