Plans for a pair of residential buildings within the St. Anthony West neighborhood were recently approved by the Minneapolis Planning Commission.
Located at 336 2nd street NE and 402 2nd Street NE, the two buildings will replace what today are two split-level homes. In total, the two projects will be home to 98 apartments and 51 parking spaces.
The first building will be constructed at 336 2nd Street NE and is planned to include 49 apartments and 29 enclosed parking spaces. Units within the building will range in size and include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts. One walk-out unit will also be located on the first level of the building.
Amenities within the building will include a makerβs space/clubroom, a fitness room and an indoor bike room with space for 27 bikes. The rooftop of the building will also include an amenity deck with views of the Downtown skyline.
The second building will be located next door to the building mentioned above at 400 2nd Street NE. The building will also stand four-stories tall and will include 49 apartments and 24 indoor parking spaces.
Units within the building will feature studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts. One walk-out unit will also be located on the first level of the building. Amenities within the building will include a clubroom, a fitness room and a bike room on the first level with space for 27 bikes.
Both projects were designed by Minneapolis-based DJR Architecture.
While both buildings will be very similar in size and make up, the exteriors will look slightly different architecturally. Both buildings will be clad in light brick, stone, fiber cement shiplap siding and dark blue fiber cement panels. Many units within both of the buildings will also include private balconies.
The two buildings will share a driveway that will be built over the previously vacated 4th Avenue NE right-of-way that is located to the north of the site.
Work on 336 2nd Street NE and 400 2nd Street NE will occur at the same time with construction anticipated to begin later this fall.
