A St. Paul bakery and café that is a true favorite is crossing the river and opening a second location in NE Minneapolis.
The Buttered Tin will open later this summer at the corner of Lowry Avenue N and Marshall Street NE across the street from Betty Danger’s Animal Farm. The new location will occupy a corner retail space located on the ground floor of Gateway Northeast, a new mixed-use project that includes affordable housing and ground commercial space that was completed in early 2021.
The restaurant and bakery’s original location opened eight years ago in the Lowertown neighborhood in Downtown Saint Paul. Owner Alicia Hinze decided to open a second location in NE Minneapolis largely due to the neighborhood’s culture and vibrant artist community, a vibe that’s very similar to the neighborhood surrounding their original location.
The Buttered Tin will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will specialize in farm-to-table food with a menu that features several award-winning eats and sweets. Those sweets will include pies, cupcakes, cookies, bars, cakes and more. Also, we should inform you if you don’t already know, Owner/Chef Alicia Hinze is not only a James Beard-recognized chef, but she also WON Cupcake Wars. Talk about some accomplishments.
The Buttered Tin is anticipated to open in late July at 2445 NE Lowry Avenue.
