A new residential building is planned for a site located at the corner of N 6th Avenue E and E 4th Street in the Central Hillside neighborhood.

The new building, which has been in the works for nearly six years, will tentatively be called β€œBrewery Creek Apartments” and will stand five stories tall and include 52 residential units when complete. An existing commercial building and a surface parking lot will be demolished in order for the new building to be constructed.

Units within the building will be available at a range of affordable rents. 26 of the units within the building will be dedicated for youth who have been homeless while another six will be available for individuals with disabilities. In addition, 10 units will be prioritized for members of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

1 Roof Community Housing is overseeing the development of the project. Residents will also have access to services provided by Life House. Recently the project received $16 million from the State of Minnesota in order to move forward.

Work on Brewery Creek Apartments is anticipated to begin in fall of 2021.
