https://www.midamericagrp.com/...A popular chicken chain has set its sights on Duluth with their first location already in the works.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is planning a location near the Miller Hill Mall according to new leasing documents. The new location would be located within the Jigsaw retail development at the corner of Central Entrance and Anderson Road.
If youβre not familiar with the chain, you might have heard about a company in 2019 selling out of a newly released chicken sandwich that was so popular that individuals were reselling them for $60. Yeah, that was Popeyes.
Popeyes opened their first location 47 years ago in New Orleans, Louisiana and today has well over 3,000 locations spread across the world. The restaurant chain serves chicken dishes in mild and spicy flavors that come with sides like red beans and rice, Cajun fries, macaroni & cheese, biscuits and more.
This would-be Popeyes first location in Northern Minnesota, however the company does have quite a few locations in the Twin Cities with the closest location to Duluth being located in St. Cloud.
The Duluth location would feature a free-standing building that looks to reflect the companyβs latest prototype design. The location would feature indoor dining space along with a full-service drive through.
The retail development that Popeyeβs would be located in is called βJigsaw.β Launch Properties is the Developer behind the project that will include three retail buildings, two of which would include drive-thrus with Popeyes occupying one of those buildings. According to plans, the remaining free-standing building is already under contract and could become home to two businesses or a dual-branded concept due to the building have two separate drive thrus. The remaining building is currently being marketed by Mid-America towards multiple retail tenants with anywhere between 2,100 and 7,700 square feet of space being available.
The current plans for the Jigsaw development are a slight departure from previous plans which featured two larger retail buildings and a smaller free-standing building with a drive thru. Within the original plans pet retailer Chuck & Donβs was listed as a tenant, however the company is no longer listed on leasing documents.
Work on Popeyes and the overall Jigsaw development is anticipated to begin this spring.
