Two locals who have heavily been involved in Minneapolis’ food scene over the years are teaming up to open a restaurant of their own.
Denny Leaf-Smith and Kim Tong are opening a new vegetable focused restaurant called “All Saints” in a space in Northeast that was previously home to Bardo. The name for the new restaurant comes from the original tenant of the building, which was constructed in 1928, which happened to be a funeral home.
When it comes to the menu at All Saints, vegetables will take center stage with meat serving as an enhancer, not the other way around as other restaurants do. The restaurant will feature a full menu filled with soon-to-be favorites with a portion of that menu changing seasonally. Each dish served will also include some type of food component that will come from a new wood-fired grill located within the center of the restaurant
Denny, who has previously been at 112 Eatery, Eastside and Café Lucrat, will be the individual behind the kitchen. Kim, who also has an impressive track record having been at Borough, Masu Sushi & Robata and Piccolo, will be the one helming the front of the restaurant.
The vibe at All Saints will be casual and refined at the same time. Minneapolis-based Wittkamper Studio is the firm responsible for the design of the new restaurant. You can expect to see a refreshed interior that includes more seating, 80 to be precise, along with a relocated bar which will move from the front of the restaurant to the side where it will face a large outdoor patio.
At first, All Saints will focus on dinner six nights a week. You’ll also have something to look forward to in 2022 when the restaurant begins serving weekend brunch.
All Saints is anticipated to open in August at 222 E. Hennepin Avenue.
