A new mixed-use project is planned for a large surface parking lot located along University Avenue W.
Reuter Walton Development is planning to construct a $75 million affordable housing project on a 3-acre site located at the intersection of University Avenue and Fairview Avenue. The site is currently owned by Goodwill, which has their headquarters located directly behind the site at 553 Fairview Avenue N.
The project will feature two, six-story buildings that together will include 243 affordable apartments along with 2,500 square feet of commercial space. Units within the building will range in size and include studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom layouts.
Around 83 apartments within the building will be available for those earning 50% of the area median income while 58 units will be available for those earning 60 percent and finally 75 units for those earning 80 percent. 27 units will be set aside for those making 30 percent or less of the area median income.
Both buildings will be connected by an underground parking level. In addition, there will be a surface parking lot with 150 spaces located behind the buildings. A portion of the surface parking lot will be leased backed to Goodwill for use by their headquarters employees.
DJR Architecture is responsible for the design of the project which features two โEโ shaped buildings that hug University Avenue W.
Work on 1825 University Avenue W is anticipated to begin in Spring 2021.
