102 market-rate apartments are planned for a long vacant site at the corner of Hiawatha Avenue and E 38th Street.
Originally envisioned as a commercial building, Developers Pocket Properties and Makado are now envisioning a C-shaped four-story building that would include not only 102 apartments but also 2,200 square feet of ground floor commercial space and 50 enclosed parking stalls.
Designed by DJR Architecture, the mixed-use project is planned to be clad in vertically oriented metal siding and cement wood paneling. The building would feature amenity space on the ground floor along with an additional amenity space and an outdoor dog walk on the second floor. Units within the building would include studio, alcove and one-bedroom layouts.
One of the perks of the location of the project is that it is just across the street from the E 38th Street light rail station. That makes transportation to Downtown Minneapolis, the airport or Mall of America a breeze.
Plans for 3801 Hiawatha Avenue will be presented to the Minneapolis Planning Commission Committee of the Whole for feedback this Thursday, November 7th at 4:30pm.
