A new farm-to-table restaurant and bar is opening in the Mill District.

Farmers Kitchen + Bar is set to open later this summer in a space that was formerly home to Spoonriver located at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and S Second Street.

The new establishment is set to become the ultimate farmer-to-table restaurant. It’ll do so by connecting guests with Minnesota’s local, family farms by providing not only delicious meals crafted from their fresh produce and meats, but by also selling their products.

The space that Farmers Kitchen + Bar will call home will be renovated to include a light and airy atmosphere that features plenty of indoor seating and outdoor patio seating.

The new restaurant is being brought to life by the Minnesota Farmers Union and will focus on breakfast, lunch and β€œsupper” along with selling grab-and-go-items such as farm fresh produce, eggs and meat. The restaurant will be a first for the Minnesota Farmers Union and its members, marking a new foray into the restaurant industry for the Union.

Executive Chef Kris Koch will be the culinary mind behind the menu at Farmers Kitchen + Bar. Chef Kris’ experience includes working for Wolfgang Puck as an Executive Sous Chef, serving as the Executive Chef at the Grand Hotel (now the Hyatt Centric) and most recently serving as the Director of Savory at Patisserie 46.

Farmers Kitchen + Bar is anticipated to open in early summer at 750 S 2nd Street.
