DOLLAR GENERAL TO OPEN URBAN CONCEPT IN DOWNTOWN image

Dollar Generalโ€™s new urban concept will open in Downtown Minneapolis early next year.

DGX Minneapolis will open at the corner of Nicollet and Fifth Street. The retailer will occupy a 6,000 square foot space on the ground floor of The Andrus, a historic building that was constructed in 1898 and renovated in 2018.

Dollar General debuted the DGX brand in 2017 and has since opened six other locations throughout the country. DGX will be more upscale than a traditional Dollar General store with the smaller stores being located in urban centers and designed to cater towards millennials.

The Minneapolis location will offer a grocery section with โ€œgrab & goโ€ salads, fresh fruits and veggies, refrigerated and frozen food, snacks and candy in addition to a health and beauty section, pet supplies, toys, paper products and cleaning supplies. The Minneapolis location will also offer electronics and seasonal offerings.

DGX Minneapolis will be located at 520 Nicollet Mall and is anticipated to open in early 2021.
